The IO 470 is one of the best engines Continental made. The only reason it doesn’t have a 2000hr TBO is because no current production aircraft use the 470 engine. The old IO-470 is probably the most reliable engine that Continental ever built. Around 470-500 horsepower seems to be the pinnacle range of modern cars.
