Who uses Aspen?

Human uses of aspen forests include cattle and sheep grazing, recreation, hunting and harvesting of wood products. Aspen is a preferred species for paneling, veneer products such as matchsticks and chopsticks, fiberboard, excelsior, animal bedding and decorative gifts. Aspen is a tree. The bark and leaf are used to make medicine. Aspen is used for rheumatoid arthritis (RA), nerve pain, and pain due to pressure on the sciatic nerve (sciatica), but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.

Aspen Highlands boasts the legendary Highland Bowl, and Snowmass offers the largest acreage and diversity by having something for everyone. Aspen’s beautiful scenery and open space also lends itself well to other types of winter recreation, such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, fly-fishing and even paragliding. This small mountain community is most famous for its four ski resorts – Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain (known as AJAX to the locals,) Snowmass, and Buttermilk; but it’s also beautiful year-round with multiple opportunities to enjoy the Colorado mountains.
