What fuel do Rotax engines use?
Despite its use in international competition now, the original intent of the Rotax Max was as a club racing motor. With that in mind, the motor was designed specifically to run on 91 or 93 octane pump gas. The 912 ULS has a slightly larger bore and longer stroke than the 912 UL. Otherwise the two engines are very similar. The Rotax 914 UL engine is similar to the 912 UL, but with the addition of a turbo charger giving it a horsepower rating of 115 horsepower, as well as giving it much better altitude performance.The Rotax 912 is different: Liquid-cooled heads = stable temperatures. Small cylinders = faster, cleaner combustion. Electronic ignition (no magnetos) = variable timing, lower peak pressure.
