What engine is better, 318 or 360?
The benefit of a 360 is that it has a bigger bore so for any given cylinder head it will flow more air and make more power than a 318 with its smaller bore. Because it has more displacement it will also make more torque than the 318. The factory put 360 heads on 318 blocks. Every factory 318 4bbl engine had 360 heads and intake. Easy and not too expensive.The 360 used the same block, heads, and other parts as a 390, which makes them indistinguishable from each other unless the stroke is measured.
