CAET certification validates a technician’s knowledge against an industry developed ASTM standard. It further demonstrates an understanding of key avionics theories and practices as identified and developed by experienced technicians. Although there is no avionic specific certification, avionic technicians must have the required training and tools. Many avionics technicians gain the necessary experience from military training, from a technical school, or by working for an avionics manufacturer.AET knowledge and skills include basic electronics facts, terminology, and principles, common maintenance practices, fundamentals of equipment maintenance, and aircraft fundamentals. There are no AET eligibility requirements. Candidates must pass a written exam.
