What does PD stand for in PD150?

PD stands for Pumpe Deuse, basically instead of one main injector pump the engine has a pump on each injector. PD integrates the fuel injector and this pump in one neat unit mounted to the cylinder head and operated by camshaft. Unlike common rail, there is no reserve of fuel held at high pressure: injection pressure is newly generated by the PD unit for each engine cycle.

What does PD diesel mean?

In 1999, Volkswagen introduced what would become one of the most well known engine designs of modern times – the Pumpe Duse (PD) diesel engine. Volkswagen 2. L TDI PD (1T, AAT, AEL) Engine The Pumpe‑Düse system used unit‑injectors delivering up to 2,200 bar injection pressure for precise fuel atomisation and pilot injection to drastically reduce diesel clatter, paired with a Garrett turbocharger integrated into the cast iron exhaust manifold.Several Audi, Seat, Skoda and VW model series with 2. TDI engines use both CR and PD (Pumpe-Düse / Unit injector) technology. The 1. TDI PD Pumpe-Düse is considered by many to be a reliable, durable, and highly tunable four-cylinder diesel engine. In stock form, we have seen these engines exceed 500,000 miles, and when pushed to the limit, some claim power outputs of over 700 bhp!R4 8v TDI PD 43-118kW Essentially, this ubiquitous engine has the same bottom end (cylinder block/crankcase, crankshaft) as the earlier 1. R4 TDI which uses a VP37 VerteilerPumpe distributor injection pump. However, a new cylinder head is fitted to this PD engine, to accommodate Pumpe Düse Unit Injectors.
