What is a flying wing design?
Design. A flying wing is an aeroplane that has no definite fuselage or tailplane, with its crew, payload, fuel, and equipment housed inside the main wing structure. Most airplane structures include a fuselage, wings, an empennage, landing gear, and a powerplant. The fuselage is the central body of an airplane and is designed to accommodate the crew, passengers, and cargo. The main parts of an airplane include the fuselage, wings, cockpit, engine, propeller, tail assembly and landing gear. Understanding the main parts of an airplane and their functions is the first step to understanding aviation. The main sections of an airplane include the fuselage, wings, cockpit, engine, propeller, tail assembly, and landing gear.
Which is better, high-wing or low-wing?
A low-wing aircraft generally has less drag when compared to a high-wing aircraft, making it more efficient in cruise performance; this means faster speeds and lowers fuel consumption. Airplane wings are shaped to make air move faster over the top of the wing. When air moves faster, the pressure of the air decreases. So the pressure on the top of the wing is less than the pressure on the bottom of the wing. The difference in pressure creates a force on the wing that lifts the wing up into the air.
