What is ceconite?

Ceconite is the name of a family of aircraft fabric covering products, all based upon a very special polyester fabric that has become a major industry standard. In a nutshell. It’s stronger than Grade A cotton or linen. The main difference between Ceconite and Superflite is the thread count in the weave. Superflite 102 fabric has a higher thread count and therefore a finer weave and is a little lighter. This allows Superflite fabric to be worked around curves and tight areas easier.

What is the lifespan of ceconite fabric?

The wonders of synthetic fabric came to aviation in the early 1960s, and Ceconite was advertised as a “lifetime” fabric at that time. The fabric will last indefinitely as long as it isn’t subjected to UV. Grade A cotton would typically last six to seven years when the aircraft was stored outside, whereas Ceconite, which does not rot like cotton, can last over 20 years.
