CPDLC addresses the capacity limits of voice communications in designated European airspace, providing controller and pilots an air / ground data link. ACARS facilitates communication between flight crew and ground based operations, in all phases of flight. CPDLC & ACARS in one box saves cost and installation space. PDC is Pre Departure Clearance and CPDLC is Controller Pilot Data Link Communications. CPDLC is not a clearance type. It’s simply a system that allows text based communication between an aircraft and air traffic control.You’ll need to update your avionics suite to enable the CPDLC functionality to use the system. Automatic dependent surveillance – contract (ADS-C) uses the same systems on board the aircraft to automatically transmit similar information – aircraft position, altitude, speed, elements of navigational intent and meteorological data – only to one or more specific Air Traffic Services Unit (ATSU) or AOC [1] . ADS-B messages are broadcasted directly by the airplane, whereas ADS-C information are provided also via satellite link, but only to the Air Traffic Service (ATS).
