Which is better, Aspen Hysys or Aspen Plus?
Both have the physical & simulation environments. HYSYS is supposed to be more user friendly (allegedly) but it is actually dependant on personal taste, I actually prefer Aspen Plus! Typically, HYSYS will be in “run” or “Active” mode, meaning that the simulation is ran every time we change something. Disadvantages. Steep Learning Curve: Both Aspen Hysys and Aspen Plus require a significant investment of time and effort to master, especially for engineers new to process simulation software.HYSYS does not simulate processes involving polymers and it is more limited than Aspen Plus/Dynamics, for solid operations or reactive distillation. For other cases, HYSYS is more adequate. Since 1997 Aspen Plus steady-state process simulator is adopted at Instituto Superior Técnico for Chemical Engineering curriculum.
Why is Aspen Plus so expensive?
As we all know, Aspen Tech Software Licenses are EXPENSIVE as hell. Why? Well, they are THE leading software in the Chemical & Petrochemical Industries. It is also the main software you will be using during college/university. The aspenONE for Academics package costs $3K USD/year, and you can purchase up to five years at a time.
