An Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) is a device that hosts applications that allow flight crews to perform a variety of functions that were traditionally accomplished by using paper products and tools. The concept of Electronic Flight Bag is now part of the aircraft operation. EFB contains four main categories of information, each stored in separate applications: performance data, charts, mission information and documentation.
What does EFB stand for?
EFB stands for Enhanced Flooded Battery. It is an improved version of the conventional wet-cell battery, specifically developed for vehicles with basic start-stop systems. Compared to traditional lead-acid batteries, EFB batteries are more cycle-resistant, have a longer lifespan, and offer better charge acceptance. While EFBs are an improvement over traditional flooded auto batteries, AGM batteries outperform enhanced flooded batteries. For starters, AGM batteries provide more electrical energy than an EFB can and recharge up to five times faster.After much research, we have concluded that the best answer when it comes to charging EFB batteries is to charge them using the AGM setting when using our PRO-LOGIX or CHARGE IT! This is because the EFB construction is more sensitive to voltage than a traditional flooded battery is.What’s the difference between EFB and AGM batteries? Both are designed for start-stop vehicles, but EFB is an enhanced version of a traditional flooded battery, while AGM uses fiberglass mats to hold the electrolyte.
