What was Ben Rich known for?
Spearheaded the development of the stealth technology with the F-117. Rich and the entire Lockheed Air Force team won the 1989 Collier Trophy for the production and deployment of the F-117A Stealth Fighter. The first stealth aircraft was the F-117 bomber. Built by the Lockheed Corporation, it was secretly delivered to the U. S. Air Force in 1982. The existence of the aircraft was officially acknowledged in 1988, and production ended in 1990 with the 59th plane.
