What planes use CFM56 5B engines?
The CFM56-5B powers nearly 60 percent of all Airbus A320ceo family aircraft ordered and is the only engine that powers all four models of the family. The CFM56-5A and the improved CFM56-5B can be distinguished by a slightly extended nacelle on the 5B. The two engines are otherwise identical. The CFM56-5 series is designed for the Airbus aircraft and has a very wide thrust rating of between 22,000 and 34,000 lbf (97. N).
What is the difference between CFM56 5B and 5C?
CFM56-5C series The major changes are a larger fan, a fifth low-pressure turbine stage, and the same four-stage low-pressure compressor found in the -5B variant. Unlike every other variant of the CFM56, the -5C features a mixed-exhaust nozzle, which offers slightly higher efficiency. The CFM56-5A/-5B have a two-shaft design, and overall have four and eight different thrust ratings between 21,600lbs and 32,000lbs thrust (see table, page 9).
